Tamaya Wine - Winemaker's Gran Reserva Line - Syrah

Bright, deep and intense ruby garnet in color. The nose delivers ripe red fruits, notes of herbs and trace minerals, while the oak tones accompanied humeados. The palate is elegant with fresh, juicy and dense texture. Round tannins and a bright end where you feel your berries, fine accents and stony species that define its complexity.

Syrah

Varieties: Syrah 95% - Viognier 5%

Style: Elegant and fruity, with qualities typical of the Limari Valley

Production: 700 cases (750 cc. / 12 bottles)

Yield: 6 tons/hectare

Age of the Vines: 14 years

Soil Type: Heavy clay, with calcareous strata

Management Of Soil: Trellis with 5 wires; four movable.

Irrigation: Drip irrigation

Harvest: By hand. Transported in 12 kg. containers

Analysis: Alcohol 13% vol.

Vinification: Coming from the 174 and 99 clones, the grapes were harvested by hand from the fourth week of April through the first week of May. From the vineyard, they were carefully transported to the winery. Once there, the grapes were destemmed, gentlycrushed and sent to a stainless steel vat for fermentation. After six days of pre-fermentation, the selected yeasts were added. During the fermentation process, which reached temperatures of 26 – 28 degrees C, the must (juice with grape skins) was macerated with aerated recycling gradually moving the liquid from the bottom to top of the vat 1.5 times until the fermentation process reached half the alcoholic volume. The alcoholic fermentation was finalized by macerating the wine with the grape skins for one more week to achieve an improved structure and more character. Next the wine was separated from the grape skins which were then pressed to yield a second fraction of wine. After that, the wine was aged in 400 liters barrels (new and third use) where it remained for a period of 12 months. Finally, the wine in casks went through a process of cold stabilization and then was gently filtered prior to bottling.

Tasting Note: Introduced by a deep intense purple, this syrah releases a nose of small and fresh wild fruits such as huckleberries, redcurrants, raspberries and plums melted with slightly wet earth tones above a floral background. Meat and pepper touches seal the personality, and subtle tones of vanilla, oriental spices and smoky mints add even more charm. The palate presents a great juicy texture, escorted by numerous fine and tight tannins, making perpetually and elegantly grow the volume in the mouth. The natural freshness constantly allows the expression of the aromatic fan which explodes all along the impressive and promising finish.

Best Enjoyed: Within 8 years
